first lines

As mentioned previously, i'm still getting used to this crazy little thing called blog. So as another initiation, rite-o-passage for me, here's my first attempt at the blogger games. You know, those little space fillers that people throw in their blog when they have nothing to say, or don't want to say what's really on their mind. You've all seen them. I guess they're like that little segment at the end of the local news where some fireman gives a cat CPR and saves its life - cute, unobtrusive, but shouldn't we be talking about the genocide in Africa instead?!?

This one comes from Negro, Please which i'm beginning to think is the negro mirror of my very white life.

For this little shin-dig, put your music player on random and record your favorite line from the first 25 songs that it plays. Like most games though, i didn't read the instructions very well and screwed up on the details with this one. In most cases i just picked the first line(s) of the song. Guess i was trying to save a little time. And i guess i'm supposed to have somebody out there actually guess who sings which songs, but that would mean that someone would actually be reading this. Hah! So the who's who of singin' follows each line. Enjoy...

  • i've been pissing in the wind, a chance to foolish grin (Badly Drawn Boy : Pissing in the Wind)

  • Dearest darling, look at me, Stuck (a)way up on an old oak tree (Travis : Me Beside You)

  • I'm jealous of you my friend, you don't know how your dreams will end. (horse & rider pass : East/West)

  • Black-eyed going out my door, black-eyed dog going out for more. (Gomez : Black-Eyed Dog)

  • I wish i had not woke up today, everyone misquotes the things you say. (Garbage : Old Dog New Tricks)

  • rows of houses all bearing down on me. i can feel their blue hands touching me. (Radiohead : Street Spirit)

  • (no words, instrumental... Beatles Medley : Bela Fleck & Tony Trishka)

  • Won't have you see me as your sad sack, Lost my something and I can't get it back. (Indigo Girls : Fill it up Again)

  • for the rest of my days i want you by my side, tell me what can i say to keep you in my life (Liz Phair : Good Love Never Dies)

  • Seen all the good things and bad, Running down the hill. (Radiohead : How Can You Be Sure)

  • there's a place that i know where the sycamores grow, and daffodils have their fun. (Norah Jones : Peace)

  • Pale pubescent beasts roam thru the streets, and coffeeshops. (Ben Folds : Songs of Love)

  • I don't know what i'm doing, i don't know what i'm saying. I don't know why i'm watching all these white people dancing. (Rufus Wainright : This Love Affair)

  • I can't understand myself anymore. Cuz i'm still feeling lonely, feeling so unholy. (Portishead : Linger)

  • So i heard you say "I got to get away, i'm on a sitcom trail, as clear as crystal" (Coldplay : Harmless)
