I've been begrudgingly abstaining from my Desperate Housewives for a few weeks, and now i'm desperate. Not without trying of course. First, i spent many valuable hours trying to get my stupid linux box to spit out some sound/music/chimes/whatever. Time wasted. Piece of crap. Then i went to the trouble of getting my PC server and linux box to talk to each other (something they really didn't want to do) so that i could transfer that latest Housewife episode over and watch it on the PC. Having finally done so, i pulled up my chair last Saturday evening to enjoy some trash TV, only to find that the f#&*'in PC doesn't even have a sound card? WTF?!? Oh the disappointment.

I grumbled for a few days, then bought a new computer with a DVD burner so that these sorts of situations wouldn't haunt me in the future. a Mac computer - you know, the kind the realizes that sound & video are integral to a proper computer experience, not just last minute add-ons.

But that computer won't be here for a week or so, and i'm still desperate for my housewives. So i spent a some more time last night getting the PC to talk to my son's old Mac, transferring the files, installing the codecs, and having it munch the videos down to an audio setting it could handle.

And then, after all that, i could sit back and enjoy a late evening with my housewives. Life is sweet again. Now get me that new computer post-haste so that i don't have to jump thru so many hoops next time.
