Also enjoying an evening in the park, were a couple of kids with pet duck. They brought him to the park to splash in the pond and (i'm guessing here) socialize with the other water fowl. Seriously. Not that this duck was interested in the other ducks or the geese. He splashed around for a bit, then went for a walk in the grass. Eventually the kids and their mother shooed him back to the water's edge and put him in a pet carrier, the same kind you would use for a mid-size dog. He seemed fairly content in the carrier but i think he'd rather be walking barefoot in the park. Then again, wouldn't we all?
On the way out of the park, not completely sure about any of it, i asked what the duck's name was: Rocket. The woman said she didn't think Rocket knew he was a duck, that he acts more like he thinks he's a person. Then she asked if i wanted him, but i learned a long time ago not to take pets that people try to pawn off on others.

Wow, I wonder if she would have seriously given you the duck?! I personally don't think I could have resisted the offer. :)
this reminded me of a duck story i heard this weekend.
my friends just moved from So Cal, one was driving in Lincoln... traffic was crazy backed up, he thought there was an accedent up ahead. come to find out, there was a duck (maybe goose) crossing the road. haha
so sometime soon they are going to create a blog "Only in Nor Cal".
It was bizarre, but in a good way, as Paradise & Magalia usually are. I think she would have given me the duck if i wanted it. Luckily i've had enough experience with pets that think they are people, so it was easy to resist.
