other things
techy & gadgets
I'm a bit of a gadget geek, tech geek. It's not the center of my life, but makes up a large portion of it. If this was a techy blog then i'd be writing about the new Palm Treo that i bought a few days ago. I've had a Handspring Visor for about 3 years, mostly purchased for geocaching, but indespensible for note taking and contacts. And i have an iPod that i've had for over a year, and love to death. And i needed to join the 20th century and get a cell phone. Rather than carry all three, i went for broke and traded up to the Treo, which i've been lusting after since Handspring originally introduced it. It takes notes, makes calls, browses the web, controls your home computer, plays music and video, shoots digital picts and video. how cool is that?
work
I quit my job and went out on my own. If this blog was focused on that it would be filled with picts of my new office; explanations of tax craziness; rants about software that doesn't work like it should; stories of excitement for the first time in years (though the environment is really the only thing that has changed); glee over some bureaucrats finally getting their just desserts; frustration over it being too-little-too-late; musings of new people to work with; worry over paying bills; and other general leaks of info that could get me fired, if i wasn't pretending to be my own boss.
filmz
I'm a movie/film lover. Both, and yes there's a difference. I could rant about the Revenge of the Sith, and try to propose a theory of why it was finally better than the last two but not as good as it should be. I could also go on and on about the scariest movie i've seen since Mute Witness, how my local cult video store became my best friend (in spite of my love of Netflix), and how you should go see High Tension, with someone that doesn't mind you hiding in their grasp.
music
I could write about the songs and bands that i'm currently in love with. Last week i had an entire newMusicThursday post planned, complete with a podCast of the songs of my choice. But, alas, the podcast software didn't like me storing the music on Yahoo's briefcase system, so it didn't happen. Music tends to remind me of truths, and life, and joy & hurt.
personal
I could say alot... either vague (like i have been), or open & honest like i probably should be. So much goes unspoken, unwritten. Further apart? Closer together? Sign a lease? Is anyone happy right now? Is this the worst, most loveless Spring of my entire life? One can only hope there won't be a repeat performance.
looking back over these, i realize that my journal is the kind that gives you a little bit of all of the above. like life itself i guess
